| FREE TAX PREP AVAILABLE
We all know that economic self-sufficiency and financial stability are key to the success of families, and ultimately the strength of our community. United Way focuses on promoting financial stability to help individuals and families have access to opportunities that can help them build savings and gain more financial assets for long-term stability.
United Way is partnering with several area nonprofits, including Berks Community Action Program, Berks Encore, Boyertown Area Multi-Services, Catholic Charities and Centro Hispano, to help low to moderate income families become financially stronger with free tax prepartion assistance.
FREE tax preparation assistance is available for individuals or families with a household income of less than $60,000 in 2010. Appointments are available now through April 15 during day and evening hours at sites located throughout Berks County. Several of the sites have bilingual services. To schedule an appointment, contact the site most convenient. A listing of the sites is available by downloading the flyer from our website.

Teri Fisher started off with an empty cart and a plan. In just three minutes, she filled four carts and left Shurfine Markets with nearly $1,150 worth of food and other items, all generously donated by Associated Wholesalers, Inc./Shurfine Markets.
Fisher won her shopping spree by contributing to the 2010 United Way Campaign through her employer, East Penn Manufacturing Co., Inc.
During her three-minute dash through the Sinking Spring store, Fisher filled her carts with meats, laundry detergent, health and beauty items and other groceries.
This is the tenth year that Associated Wholesalers, Inc./Shurfine Markets has donated a shopping spree to the United Way campaign.
